We recently installed a number of weather strips in an eastern suburbs home. The type and variety of weather strips now available is huge. We installed 2 different types of weather strips. One type was a rubber base weather strip that is designed to virtually create a seal between the door and the flooring surface. This type of weather strip is very useful for minimising heat loss within a home and stopping any insects from crawling into the house under the door. The other type of strip we installed was a ‘brush’ type strip which was attached to screen doors at the front and rear of the property. The installation methods can vary but it generally involves drilling into a timber door and then using wood screws to secure the stip. In the case of metal doors such as security doors and screen doors we can use a special high ‘stick’ double sided tape to attach the strip to the door.
