A fairly common request for our services is laying vinyl plank floor systems. These click lock systems basically mimic the appearance of timer floor boards and look really fantastic when layed. The benefits of vinyl click flooring is:

• waterproof – fine for kitchens and laundries
• hard wearing
• relatively easy installation
• damaged planks can be replaced
• reasonably priced
• look great

If laying over existing ceramic floor tiles special care needs to be taken prior to laying the vinyl planks. It is possible that the grout lines of the ceramic tiles can show through if the vinyl plank joints happen to line up with the ceramic til grout lines. The way to avoid this is to mix up some readily available leveling compound which is basically a thin concrete mix and then use a squeegee, trowel or similar tool to spread the compound over the tiles ensuring it gets into the grout lines and levels them with the surface of the tiles.
